OY! I've been having Braxton-Hicks contractions pretty regularly for the past 3 days. They're not painful, just slightly uncomfortable as they make it slightly difficult to take deeper breaths. Ugh.

Ryan Starr got voted off American Idol tonight...I wish it had been Justin and it was actually close. Oh well. And two TV shows tonight (Frasier and Spin City) had characters named Deirdre appear on them. Isn't that neato? Can you tell I have been watching a lot of TV? D'oh! I was trying to keep my incredible LACK of a social life under wraps...but I'm sure most of you expected as much from a pregnant chick :)

I have a busy week coming up :) First, on Sunday, some girls at work are throwing my first baby shower :) Then Sunday night I am going to Backstage Cafe with pretty much everyone else from work for a private party. Our GM is leaving our store :( We will all miss Rich. I wasn't planning on working at Hooters after the baby arrives, at least not full-time...but it would have been a nice weekend job. But Rich AND Dennis are leaving now and I think I might just apply at the one in Virginia Beach. Anyway...on Monday, I have to drop my car off AGAIN because my brakes are grinding AGAIN. Hopefully Joel and the rest of the guys at Japanese Automasters will get a new brakes supplier! Wednesday I have an appt. at the OB :) BABY CHECK-UP!! WOOHOO!! Alright...not that busy...but now you know what I'm doing and in case I forget what I'm SUPPOSED to be doing, I can check back here. HA!

Does anyone else watch American Idol? I saw it the first time with Meghan when she was visiting and I just started getting back into it. I watched it last week and voted for Kelly Clarkson. This week she was pretty good, but I had to vote for Ryan Starr. She sucked last week, but that was the first time I had ever seen her perform. So tonight I was just blown away by her performance and I voted for her. I called the 866 number and I got through on the first time...I'm not sure if that's a good sign or not. Tomorrow night on Fox they'll show who was voted off...I'm hoping Justin (or Sideshow Bob, as I like to call him) gets booted. He is SO annoying and with his dumb apology tonight? I didn't buy it for a second. I think he was just trying to appeal to all the fans he offended by being such an egomaniac.

WHOA THERE. Everyone take a minute and read the "shout" left by Cordle....the man who has his ugly mug plastered on his website with a llama. One notch BELOW prostitution? Even though I disagree COMPLETELY, I think he might have meant one notch ABOVE. Obviously not the brightest shade of yellow. And granted, the man may not be arrogant (in his own little, little, closed-mind), but to leave THAT message on MY website was definitely tasteless and rude. And if I hadn't made $242 dollars tonight....I might have been more upset by his mindless jab. Right now, I just think it's funny :) So CORDLE, feel free to visit my site as often as you'd like (or dislike) but keep in mind, no matter what you say or do...you're the poor petty loser that took the "tipping banter" a little too seriously, and a little too far.

I had planned on going out tonight. My old pal Jesse and the rest of the people at 50th apts. near ODU are having their last bash at the 1015. Liz (fellow Hootress) is supposed to call me when she gets off work (she is a non-closer) tonight and we are supposed to go together. But it's already 10:20 and by the time she calls and I get ready and get out there, it will be at least 11:15. I'm such a nerd, but that's way too late to be JUST going out. I'm usually in bed sometime around then, and with my wake-up call this morning AND work, I just don't think I can do it. Sorry Jesse.


D'oh! Family vacation time. I totally forgot that was this week. Looks like TwinnieTwin won't be around for me to talk to for awhile...you people may see less of me online this week.

Can someone PLEASE explain to me why a 6-year-old girl was sleeping under the same roof as a homeless man or "local transient??"


WHOA. Talk about nuts! I've been bouncing over to PromoGuy's website to keep an eye on what he's up to and also to follow this post and its responses. It all started out to be about tipping. Read what I've said (obviously the posts from "Hootress") and notice how REASONABLE and even AGREEABLE I am about everyone else's point of view. Then this "cordle" character chimes in and suggests that I don't have any class because I work at Hooters (which I admit doesn't have the classiest reputation OR connotation) AND because I live in Virginia Beach. I don't think one could be any more arrogant. Being an "ex-Williamsburger" one would THINK that he would know that of all the cities that make up the Hampton Roads area, Virginia Beach and Chesapeake are the most "classy." And being an "ex-Williamsburger," he must have a lot in common with all the supposed "classy" people from Bay Village that think that where you live defines your class. Oh wait, I used to live in Bay. Hmm.

Some people don't realize that sometimes having class can be as simple as not being an asshole.


My car passed Virginia's State Inspection today...or should I say REinspection? Anyway, kudos to the ShakwHonda.


Well..I went to court this morning, and I was the first case the judge heard because the prosecutor made a motion to dismiss. Officer Hasty wasn't even there. I have to say I am disappointed I didn't get to see what he looks like, and even more disappointed he didn't get to see what I look like, considering he gave "me" a ticket. Oh well. In and out in 25 minutes...and if not seeing the cop that did is the only thing I have to complain about, I'm doing pretty well.

It bothers me when people sign on to AIM just to put up an away message. It's like, "Just in case you want to reach me, I'm not here." If people want to get ahold of you, and you're not signed on, couldn't they just e-mail you? Or couldn't they just call you...assuming one who has AIM is also NOT Amish and has an answering machine or VM or hey, even a cell-phone. But isn't the point of being OUT, being inaccessible sometimes?

And if you haven't already tried the new Grilled Chicken Flatbread Sandwich from McDonald's, I'm going to suggest it. It's really good.

I have court tomorrow morning...I will finally come face to face with Officer Hasty...the man who gave a ticket to a long-haired Italian imposter with MY ID in broad daylight. I'm wondering if he's a.) a rookie b.) got glasses as thick as his head or c.) just a typical less than smart Chesapeake police officer. This never would have happened in Virginia Beach.

I may have found a cure for the worst summertime disease: PALE SKIN. I was up at Phar-mor the other day and Coppertone Endless Summer Sunless Tanning Lotion was on sale. I had been wanting to try it for awhile and the sale price, though not incredible, was STILL cheaper than the original price. So I picked up a bottle of "dark" and I slathered it all over my legs yesterday. It works wonderfully. My legs are bronzed and I'm not streaky. I applied it while I was on the phone with Cindy!! It was that easy! So pale friends....run out and buy a bottle...or maybe two for those extreme cases...like for example...Cindy. :)

I was just signed on to Kazaa for the first time in a month or so, and shortly after I signed on, I received a McAfee notice saying I'd contracted a Trojan horse virus. I don't know for SURE what is happening, I'm scanning my c drive as I type this and all should be well soon. I know that some viruses go ahead and read address books, and I just wanted to say that besides Aardvark, Seester, and BunnyLubber, I haven't sent out any e-mails. If you're not one of those people and you get an e-mail from me, go ahead and delete it.


There is another Baby Story over in the UK, today. Fellow blogger Aardvark and his wife welcomed a beautiful baby boy into the world this morning. I just looked at Aardvark's site. And he has the pics linked up over there...so head on over and take a peek at his tiny little son, Connor.

No news on this side of the ocean today...I pretty much spent the day indoors. It's a nice place to be when it's hot and I'm pregnant.


I just watched my first whole episode of A Baby Story on TLC. Labor and Delivery looks very painful...but the expectant mother seemed pretty okay after her epidural...we'll see.


I just got home from lunch...Mom and I went back to the hole-in-the-wall Mexican place we've adopted as our own, La Taqueria. For those of you in the Hampton Roads area, La Taqueria is adjacent to the Car Spa in the Franklin Square Shopping Ctr., on the corner of Holland and Lynnhaven. The servers are always quick to greet and they are generous with the chips and salsa. Depending on who your server is, you might be treated to the green salsa as well as the red. The chips are hot and so is the salsa. Everybody loves to say *salsa* (Seinfeld moment). Anyway, the first time I went I had the Flautas...fried corn tortilla with shredded beef and all the necessary sides (e.g. sour cream, lettuce, tomato, guacamole). I think that still holds the title of "My Favorite Dish." Today I ordered the Cancun burrito, minus the mushrooms. It has ground beef (made by them--and not really ground beef...it's like mini squares of steak) cheese, refried beans, and rice. It is also very worth the price (I think about 5 or 6 dollars)...the burrito was nearly a foot long and packed. I ordered sour cream and guacamole to accompany the already delicious dish, and I left with half of my serving in a to go box. And yes PromoGuy, we left a nice tip. The bill came to 15.40 and we left a 5 on the table.

I've been talking about tipping a lot lately and apparently it is also a subject on this guy's website. PromoGuy has some sketchy views of restaurant etiquette, but I like his site. It's worth takin' a looksee. I found the link over at Aardvark's site, who, by the way, will be welcoming a little one into the world shortly. I tried posting a comment of "congratulations" on his site...twice. I'll check back in a bit to make sure they posted.


What an eventful day! First, I got my car back...no charge :)

Then I had my OB appt. and my doctor said she WOULD make copies of my labwork for me so I can take them to Ohio, just in case. She also said, "Travelling is a bad idea." But the only REASON it's a bad idea is because I COULD deliver early. Frankly, I would actually prefer to deliver at a hospital like Fairview General, but I didn't mention that. Everything is normal, BP, weight, size of belly, etc. No contractions, no bleeding...no threats of pre-term labor *knock on wood.* So my plans have not changed. In fact, I just got off the phone with USAir and all I need is a statement from the Dr. saying when my duedate is. Apparently there are restrictions imposed by the airline on women travelling when they are within 1 week of their duedate. Hmph.

CITIZEN'S ARREST!! Interesting thing happened at the drugstore, too. Some guy caught another guy trying to break into his minivan and he wrestled him to the ground and detained him until the police arrived. I saw it happen :) Neato, huh?


I'm sleepy. So is my baby. She is ALL WORN OUT!! We were just playing a game. I drag my fingers across my belly, and she follows them and swats at me :) Goodtimes, goodtimes. Time for us to go to sleep.

What a DAY! I worked...it was lovely. I waited on a couple people from 96X WROX (local radio celebs) during the lunch hour. I had waited on them once before, but didn't remember what sort of tippers they all were. They were an enjoyable table through the meal and stuff like that, very polite and personable. But they DID wait until the end of the lunch to let me know they wanted separate checks (5 of them), AND they all had VIP cards (25% off). As far as tipping goes...not bad. But not impressive either. A TIP for other restaurant patrons...when you get a discount of ANY kind, the RIGHT thing to do is to base your tip on the FULL check amount...not the reduced amount.

I was scheduled as a non-closer today and that worked out well because my car is in the shop AGAIN and my mom had to pick me up before she went to work. So at 2, Rob cut 2 girls from the floor, the 3rd non-closer had to stay until 3. The 2 new girls of COURSE had "very important stuff" to be doing and they just couldn't possibly stay until 3, so we all lotto'd and as my bad luck would have it, I had to stay. No biggie, it was done fairly. But then one of the girls that got to go and do her "important stuff" sat at the bar and ordered lunch and organized her purse. Right...real priorities. I got out of there finally at 3:15, my mom was IN the restaurant, ready to go. So I walked right up to the new girl, who was STILL at the bar eating her burger and BSing with the hostess, and said "I just wanted to let you know that I think it's pretty [effed] up that you couldn't possibly stay until 3 for me, and now I'm leaving before you...just thought you should know." And she looked at me like I was nuts. But seriously, if EVERY time the floor is cut or there are too many girls scheduled and you're always the one volunteering to leave, or if EVERY time someone needs you to close for them, or needs to go before you and you say no, you shouldn't be working at Hooters. We're all about teamwork, and I'm surprised how many of the new girls don't get that. I pick up shifts all the time, I close for people whenever they need it (provided I'm not relying on someone else for a ride). This week I picked up a shift for someone, I switched a shift with someone that had a conflict in her schedule, and just last night I closed for a girl that was sick and needed to go home. There is no "I" in team.

And finally, I DID get some good news when I got home. My car is at Japanese AutoMasters because the brakes have been grinding since I got it back last week (I just got new front brake pads and rotors). Joel had some good news for me and said that the front brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced AGAIN because the shims had ?disbonded? or ?disconnected? or something and left a groove in the rotors. But it's all under warranty and while I won't have my car until tomorrow morning...I won't have to pay to get it back :) WOOHOO!! Chalk up another satisfied customer for Japanese AutoMasters!!

Someone said to me today, "It's hard being a rockstar without a band." Ha, ha. Party on, Friend.


Whoa. Tonight, for the first time in the 1year+ that I have been working at Hooters, one of my tables ordered the Gourmet Wing Dinner. The dinner consists of 1 bottle of Dom Perignon and 20 wings for 148.88+tax. How NUTS is that? Their final check total was 185.85 and they left me a 35.00 tip...pretty nice. The tip was a slightly over 18% but the check also included some merchandise that need not be tipped on...so it worked out to be slightly over 20%. I had only 9 tables tonight and my sales were just under $500. Not too shabby.

I have an idea. And it's a marketable idea. Although it requires woodowork and a trustworthy partner. Seester, do you know anyone? I'm thinking about asking Grandpa Bulldog...but I'm not too sure he'd be up for it. I have the concept and the rough design of the thing...but as far as making it goes...I don't know. Anyone with any ideas or any experience getting patents for things...hit up my comments link.


Just surfing around and I stopped at this interesting list. It is a list of signs that you are a good tipper. That's what the list is called anyway. Being a waitress, I really haven't noticed that people that behave this way tip any better than those that don't. The list really provides etiquette guidelines. Though a good tip (20% or more) is preferred from ANY table I wait on, it is much easier to take a bad tip (15% or less) from a table that does have manners than from a table that does not. And this list of things to do to make your service better just goes along with the other list. Again, it's all about etiquette. One would be surprised how MANY people don't know these very BASIC guidelines to follow when eating in public. I'd suggest everyone takes a quick look at these, and if you disagree with one or more of them, maybe you should try eating at home.

Question: When is it a bad idea for me to be driving??
Answer: When there is an electrical/lightning storm so bad outside that nighttime can be confused for daytime and headlights almost aren't necessary. When the sound of my brakes could easily be mistaken for the thunder that seems to not be able to fit itself in between lightning strikes. When the gas gauge is below the E line and in the red zone and my car hesitates before entering into first gear after every light....but I'm home. Safe and sound. I have my milk and Froot Loops with Marshmallows and Mom will have a chilled bottle of wine when she gets home from work. All is well :)


In case no one else has noticed...I did add a guestbook to my site. I had one before...but that was the "old site" where I did nothing but bitch about certain people and their certain fondnesses for other certain people. ANYWAY...since the site's rebirth and stuff I added a NEW guestbook and y'all can sign it now. Too bad so sad none of you will get to be the first :) Aardvark has taken that claim for himself :)

Oh and I also added that BlogHop blograting thing. To vote...click the rating...the green ones are good, the red ones are bad. VERY VERY BAD.


Oh happy day!! My bundle of joy is due in LESS than two months (two months from yesterday) AND I will be in Ohio in less than ONE month!!

Today's debate: I don't know how happy I am with my obstetrician. I'm 7 mos. pregnant and I have no idea what to expect when "the time" comes. I don't have any way to get ahold of her in case of emergency...I don't know. Just a lot of stuff. I have a lot of questions for my next appointment and I guess the answers I get will determine how secure I feel about the doctor/patient relationship. PLUS, I don't like Norfolk General Hospital and that's where I'm supposed to be delivering at. If I switch I'm going to switch to Chesapeake General.

BUT at the moment I can't seem to access the comments that people are leaving :( Hopefully this will work itself out.


Don't you hate it when the phone rings and wakes you 12 minutes before your alarm is set to go off? I bet you would hate it more if it was the SAME person on the phone that had called you an hour earlier, too.

On a positive note, I have a plane ticket and I will be home from August 16th to the 20th. Thanks to Seester and Brosser for that one.

You know how after you get NO sleep you really NEED to take a nap? Don't you hate then how you wake up and feel sick like maybe didn't sleep long enough or maybe you've slept for days?


Aardvark: I decided that since it only took you 15 minutes to set up, I might as well take a stab at the enetation thing BEFORE I catch up on my much needed sleep. I think I have been successful. Thank you for the suggestion!!

Isn't funny how when the phone rings so many times in the middle of the night and you're 7 mos. pregnant and you start seething with anger you can't go back to sleep? Um. No. It's not funny. I'm going to have some Frosted Flakes now. And from now on, if anyone needs me between the hours of 2am and 8am...that's just too bad, the phone will be off the hook. Try calling between normal business hours :)


It's cool, but very NOT cool. When the phone rings at 4:07am, and I've been sleeping (naturally), it wakes me up. But it also wakes up the baby. I'm not sure if it's because the baby hears the phone ring, or because the baby hears my voice after it's been in silence (minus weird stomach gurglings) for so long. Either way, it's neat that the baby recognizes the sounds, but at the same time it's 4:07am, and if my baby wants to sleep, she should sleep uninterupted. Back to sleep for both of us...after one more glass of orange juice.


I worked an evening shift tonight and it went very well with only one exception...

There was this party of guys (wasted and NOT my table) behind me while I was standing at the bar waiting for my cups. One of the guys noticed I am pregnant and looked at me, streched his arms toward my stomach and said, "Come 'ere."

I gave him a funny look and said "no" as I started to back further away from him.

Sensing that he made me totally uncomfortable he insisted, "No, it's okay. My wife is 6 months pregnant, come 'ere."

I said, "Uhhh...no. I'm not your wife." And I walked away.

Later, I was at the back station printing out a check for a table of mine when the touchy guy's friend stopped to talk to me. "You know he didn't mean anything by it," he said. "His wife is pregnant, it's not a big deal."

"Oh, it isn't a big deal. I'm not offended or mad at him. But I wouldn't let him touch me pregnant or not. You don't just touch strangers and just because I am pregnant doesn't mean I have to let strangers touch me," I explained.

"Well he's kinda hurt, maybe you should say something to him." The guy was actually serious.

I sorta laughed and asked, "So you want me to apologize to your friend, a man I DON'T know, for NOT letting him touch me?? No, I don't think so."

And the guy looked at me like I'm a bitch or something. Whatever. Let this be a lesson to men, women, people everywhere. Keep your hands to yourself and away from my stomach. If I wouldn't let you touch me otherwise, I'm not going to let you put your hands all over my belly.

It's 9:03pm and the highlight of my day was a commercial on HBO advertising the beginning of the new Sopranos season. It starts on September 15th!! That's 3 days before I'm due!! I'll be home to watch it!! Unless I'm doing something nuts like having a baby :)


One thing I won't miss about being pregnant is the CRAZINESS that I dream about at night. I dreamt that Shawn and I went to Dave Matthews together...and we hung with the band in some sort of room that didn't have a floor...the whole wall was slanted and the room was a big slide. I don't know. There was a ton more stuff...but that's the PG version. CRRRAZY!

Well today was pretty much as eventful as yesterday, minus the unfortunate rerun-in with the Chinese food. I put together the stroller, and I know how it works now so I will be fully prepared to take my baby across "all-terrain." Aunt Bear, Mom, and I went to TJ Maxx and I got the cutest little squishy book for the baby. One can never have too many books!! All is well on the homefront and it looks like Shawn isn't going to Dave Matthews tonight as planned...I think he's selling the tickets to a friend. That's a good thing I suppose, he does have responsibilities and so far he has been very responsible. He said I could help him out again with the next contest where the prize is $200 cash. If he wins, we split :)


December 1963....OH WHAT A NIGHT. What a day, really. My girl Summertime now has a job working at Mojo, a trendy new nightspot opening up at Waterside. She can thank me later :) It's good to have friends who have friends in high places. HA! I went to Target as planned with my Aunt Bear yesterday afternoon. She bought my birthday/baby present all in one and got me the Eddie Bauer Travel System for my little one. She also bought a little nightgown for her, it is so cute! Thank you Aunt Bear and Uncle John!! Aunt Bear is planning on trekking out of the Hamptons and finding the Target nearest her (an hour away) when she returns to NY. She was very impressed, especially with the lamps :) Then we took some Chinese up to my mom at work and we all ate dinner together...it was great at the time (keep reading). Then I took Aunt Bear back to the Grandparents' and cruised up to Bar to help Shawn out with some promotional stuff so he could win 4 VIP passes to the Dave Matthews Band concert tonight...and he won. I'm happy he gets to go, he needs to go. He loves Dave. Hehehe. ANYWAY...so the Chinese food...that would be why I'm typing up a blog right now and not at work. I really only planned on seeing that stuff ONE time. It doesn't look as good on the walls and floor of my bathroom.

It's official. I am coming to Ohio. My plane ticket is not yet secured, but it will be next week. So family and friends in Ohio: the lady doing my baby shower hasn't yet sent out the invitations (that I know of) but my baby shower will be Sunday, August 18th. So...clear your calendars and I look forward to seeing everyone!

Aunt Bear is visiting from New York this weekend. I enjoyed lunch with her at my grandparents' house this evening...I left after dinner though. I get so much 1 on 1 time with the grandparents, I didn't want to intrude :) I'll have tomorrow night with her. She's never been to a Target before (she lives in the Hamptons of Long Island...you know...where P. Diddy lives) so we're going to go to Target and she's going to check out my registry and give me my baby presents early :) Goodtimes...goodtimes.

Can I get a shoutbox to stay on my site for more than a week PLEASE?! I don't think that's too much to ask. Anyone that has a GOOD link for a GOOD shoutbox/tagboard server, PLEASE PLEASE e-mail to me. I can't handle all these "Here it is...just kidding" message boxes.


I don't think I'm the only person that thinks it would be a BAD idea to get up at 6:47am to drive 30 minutes to Shawn's house and then go to work from there at 9:00am and then work for a couple hours and then go BACK to his house to color his hair. Anyone think that's a good idea?? A show of hands please. Right...I see one. And y'all better believe it's Shawn's. It wasn't a bad phone call though, he thanked me for helping him promote BAR last night by passing out free guest passes at work. That was fun. But so is sleeping :)

This MIGHT be the last post for today. So I've been a little bored. IT HAPPENS (a lot). Anyway, the last episode of Real World Chicago aired tonight. I only get really involved in two TV shows and this is one of them, the other one is CSI on CBS Thursdays. Tonight's RW episode was thoroughly annoying and this is what I have to say about all the "charaters" now that it's over. Kyle is totally fake and possibly the biggest hypocrite I've ever had the displeasure of watching. And if he ever DID run for public office, he should change his name because I don't think anyone would vote for him based on his MTV "performance," no matter HOW much they agreed with him on political issues. Keri got a little obsessed with Kyle there at the beginning of the season, but WTG Keri on coming out looking like less of a loser than Kyle. Cara is also VERY fake, but I did enjoy her finally speaking her mind and letting Tonya have it tonight. Tonya may be a sociopath because of her upbringing, or lack thereof, but I think she spent a little too much time on the phone. She had an excuse to be away from the group while she was sick and while she was working to pay off her medical bills, but when her debt was cleared and she was given a clean bill of health, I find it completely ridiculous that she STILL spent all her time on the phone with Justin, who always sounds more like he's talking to a 5-year-old than his girlfriend. Aneesa grew up a lot, to me, and I hope that her mom and her are able to work out their acceptance and denial issues. Chris should be totally embarassed by LAST episode's footage of him dancing in front of the mirror and checking out his abs. Of course, I used to do that, but I don't have cameras all over my house...that I know of :) Chris did succeed in staying sober though and props for that. Finally, Theo impressed me. I'm impressed that he overcame his social issues and developed such strong relationships with Chris and Aneesa and I'm also impressed that he took such an active role in the Humboldt project. So. That's that. Next week: RWChicago Reunion Special...Tuesday on the 10spot. SCORE!!


I'm bored out of my mind so I've been looking at random blogs I've found either on the Blogger homepage or through blogjumping with blogsnob. Here is one that I may follow: The Date Project. This one is pretty interesting. It's published by an anonymous guy in Oregon that is searching for a girlfriend and posts his progress daily.

I just got back from my bi-weekly check-up. My blood pressure is "outstanding" at 92/60. My weight gain is "very healthy" at 9lbs. I'm at 137 now and I was 128 in January when I found out I was pregnant. My glucose test came back normal, too. All good news for me and the baby!!

29wks pregnant today!! Only 11 more weeks to go!! Woohoo!!!!

And it's probably too early for anyone to be thinking about reminding me to register for school, but I remembered on my own and it's all taken care of, so thanks anyway!!

It's July 7th. On Tuesday, someone needs to remind me (pregnant people apparently forget EVERYTHING) that I need to register for my classes. It's not a deadline but it's "priority registration" for cool students like me :) So remind me...it's Tuesday, July 9.

I had a pretty good day today. I colored my hair back to my natural color last night, and I got it cut this morning. It's a little shorter than I wanted, but considering I'm pregnant, it will grow back in no time. Work was okay. Same stuff, different day. The highlight came at the end of my shift when Shawn walked in with our old friend Brian who had moved to Akron, OH. Brian is visiting until Monday, but I'm so happy I got to see him. After I got off work, I sat and hung out with them for a little bit and then we all ended up going back to Shawn's to hang out a little more. Overall, it was a pretty good day.

Thanks for reading my site, I have a certain amount of sympathy for you because we both seem to live in Hampton Roads...so sorry about that. To anyone who knows Shawn: Please let him know that 5:45am probably isn't the best time to call my house 3x to see if I want to hang out. Call me crazy, but I like to sleep...and I have the STRANGEST feeling that the baby enjoys it when I sleep, too.

It's July 4th and I am proud to be an American. Happy Birthday U.S.A.

I worked during the day today, and thankfully I did not have any patio tables. The high termperature was predicted to be around 95* and that may have been the case, but it felt much much warmer when I went outside. And poor me, I'm pregnant in this heat. And the heat is the only thing that stood between me and a funnel cake from Town Point Park today. Hopefully it won't be as hot when the next festival brings funnel cake vendors through downtown Norfolk. I guess I'll go grab a book and read outside before I watch the fireworks from my backyard. It's got to have cooled down to 85* by now.

...And if you haven't try them yet, I'm going to recommend you don't. What am I talking about? The new Doritos X-treme Fiery Ranch chips. They are BRIGHT red and they stain your fingers for hours...even AFTER soap. They taste okay, but not good enough to deal with the finger stains.


Today was a good day. I was asked to work the bar at Hooters today, and I'd never done that the 1year+ that I've been working there, so I gave it a shot and I made more money than I would have if I had stayed on the floor. So that was VERY nice. I saw Shawn after work (he works upstairs at Bar Norfolk) and he mentioned he is looking for a second job until school starts...and of course I think that is a very WISE decision. The Godfather was working too, and he suggested Shawn and I just get back together already. But I really think it's best for me and for the baby to not date Shawn unless he is ready to date exclusively. Otherwise, just being good friends to each other and good parents to the little one is really all that's necessary. It took a long time to get to the point I am at right now, as far as not being concerned about what he's doing. And I don't think it's wise to start caring again when I have someone much more important to care about. Granted, she's in my belly, but only 2.5 MORE MONTHS!!! WOOHOO!

6 and a half months down...I want my baby now. I'm so excited. I went to Target today to add some stuff to my registry (e.g. cloth diapers, some ruffle bloomers, etc.) and my mom and I ended up leaving with the most ADORABLE little gown for the baby to wear home from the hospital. How cute! [Find registry link blog left] The stop at Target actually came after our stop at Baby Depot. We found the crib I want and picked out a mattress and oohed and ahhed over all the cute little pink outfits. It was a good time.


My grandmother stopped by with lunch today. Yummy tuna salad on a pita with yogurt & green onion potato chips, as opposed to sour cream and onion potato chips. They were really good. Anyway, Grandma looked at the nursery and she thinks it is very cute!! But she did point out that sand in Hawaii is actually a lot darker than the way it's depicted on the baby's walls due to volcanic activity and such. Great.


It's about time!! I heard from Officer Hasty this morning. The poll to the right may prove to be pointless. Officer Hasty said that since the ticket had already been to court and I had been tried in my absence (and without my knowledge), I just need to keep my appeal date and we can go before the judge together and hopefully get everything dismissed, overturned, whatever. He also asked for any information that I had regarding who the owner of the vehicle was (my friend's mother) and who the driver of the vehicle was that day (my friend said it was her sister). He said he was going to look into the matter further. As far as what action he will or will not take, I don't know, he didn't say. But I will not be pressing charges if I am offered the option.

I got so much accomplished today!! I took my car in for inspection (it failed) and made an appt. to get my left blinker fixed and new front brake pads. I went up to Tidewater Comm. Coll. and found out there IS an end in sight...or at least a new beginning. I have 11 classes left and I will be a the proud owner of an Associate's degree in Social Sciences. And I also bought new stamps and mailed out my FAFSA (invitation to the government to pay for my schooling).

As I'm writing this "postal update," I'm looking down at my leg and noticing a trail of a brown substance leading from my lower calf to the bottom of my foot...don't fret though it smells like chocolate (yes I sniffed it). And now I see it's all over my right leg, too. Grrreat. Considering I've only been home for 15 minutes, I'm hoping this happened sometime between the time I walked in the door and the time I sat down at the computer. D'oh!!


So continues the saga of Officer Hasty. I have called the deptartment 3 times, I have called his VM one time, and I have left a total of 3 messages for him. One Wednesday, one Saturday, and one this morning. I called up there again this afternoon and it seems Officer Hasty had already made his hasty exit for the afternoon. Lovely. Well, I am not one to cause problems, but considering this whole ordeal was brought about by his hasty behavior and he has not made any attempt to clear it up thus far, I suggested the desk officer transfer me to the Sgt. of the traffic division. Sgt. Johnson listened to my story and told me he would speak to Officer Hasty in the morning and I would be contacted tomorrow. Sure. I guess if I don't have a call by about 1pm tomorrow, I could call the Lieutenant.
