It's September 1st. Lila is due on the 18th. Obviously, this is my first baby (for a LONG time), ANYWAY, I don't know what it's supposed to feel like when it's close to "go time." I'm getting excited though...my contractions are annoying, but I've been having pains!! :) Maybe I'll go into labor at Hooters today! Wouldn't that be fun!?!

So I watched Glitter tonight. You know, that movie that flopped starring Mariah Carey. It was on HBO and nothing else was on, so.......I did it. And you know what, I don't regret it. Mariah can't really act that well, but I liked the story. I cried...at the Mariah Carey movie. Maybe that could also be considered a symptom of labor. ??I don't know??

Following up PromoGuy's search for himself in yahoo...I decided to run a search on myself and see how many people I don't know may have linked to me. I came upon #16 and it looked interesting. Can I get an efficiency expert in the house please? Or at LEAST in my office!?

So Jojo has a dog...named Jojo. Jojo (the person) eats 5 prunes a day..."they keep [her] regular, when [she gets] up in the morning it's like the call of the wild!!" The call of the wild, folks. Did you catch that? Because I did and I tried my best not to.

Napping and talking to anyone and everyone that would listen so she could avoid work as long as possible...it was 3:55 when Jojo finally said, "Well, what can I get accomplished in 35 minutes?" In my head: 'Hey how about the work you could have done while you were sleeping...or maybe the work you could have done while you were telling me about your "regularity" or maybe while you were eating breakfast...or taking your hour lunch...or crunching on those Doritos that made the office stink?' What I really said: nothing. I stared at my computer screen like the diligent little (big) worker I am. And that, my friends, is why I've been at my job for 3 days and already have the second highest data-entry numbers in the department :) Next week I don't have to be in until 8...and I'm HOPING that Jojo isn't allowed to pick up the overtime she was dreaming about today...because I am beginning to suffer from "JojoKill."

Alright. Now I feel bad. I complained yesterday about being lonely...and I now I wish I could do it again. I guess the MedTemp that works at the desk next to mine was sick yesterday...and now she's not. She's probably about 55 yrs old...and she really should not be working. Sure, she probably needs the money, that's why MOST people have jobs. She got into work at 8 (I get there at 7), arranged some papers, and then ate a bagel with cream cheese and orange marmalade. Then she opened up her computer book, set her hand on the page (as if to mark where she was SUPPOSEDLY reading) and turned her chair just slightly away from the door. Then she took about an hour nap. When she woke up she ate some gingersnaps and some prunes, then she made some phone calls...took a break...took another nap did about 15 minutes of work before her HOUR lunch (we're allowed a half hour). Did I mention that as she's eating she's talking AT me? I'd have to be listening for her to be talking TO me. Anyway...after she got back from her lunch...she took another nap. When the supervisor lady walked in...she sorta startled awake and restarted the conversation she had been having without me when she dozed off. I swear. What is this lady's function? What job does she have that is so UNimportant that she doesn't do it ALL DAY LONG?

Anyway...as I was blocking out her stories about soup, yard sales, and her annual pap smear...I learned a lot of new stuff on the computer about insurance and looking stuff up...and I like the part of my job I am getting paid for. I think I WOULD want a position there...as long as I got a desk in a room other than the one occupied by "JoJo the idiot gingersnap eater."

Ugh. Not to complain or anything...but I hate my job :) Today was my first day. I like data entry enough...it's boring and repetitive, but I like it. I don't like it when I have to sit in a room for 10 hours a day with some guy that doesn't talk. D'oh! Only a couple weeks at this place...I guess I won't be accepting any invitations to return after my "home with baby" time.

Anyway...I've got nothing to say...because NOTHING HAPPENED TODAY BECAUSE I WAS AT WORK! Sorry...no more outbursts.

And just so everyone knows...I didn't deliberately leave out pics of my pregnant self. I don't have any of the copies of the photos that have been taken of me. My mom took one of me in my Hooters uniform the other day, and I'll add that one once I get it developed. It's really not too much different though...just picture the same girl but with a big round belly!!

Who said pregnant chicks can't get new jobs? This Hooter girl is movin' on. Starting tomorrow at 7am (YIPES!!) I will be employed by the same lab that my mom works for :) I will be making significantly more than $2.13/hr...of course, no tips. Don't worry, I won't be in the lab getting messy...I'll be in the billing department :) HOPEFULLY they'll still be as desperate when I'm finished with my 6 wks. baby-only time!!

Next item up...uh..."New User"...whoever you are, I don't know how to put pics on my site quite yet...I'll be working on that.

Baby Update: Really...no update. Baby is still the same. She probably weighs a little more, but she's still not actively trying to break free. My doctor doesn't really anticipate an early delivery. That's good. I can be more patient now that I don't have to wear pantyhose and Reeboks to work.

And for anyone that thinks they might have termites...go GetEm. Unfortunately the details aren't on the site, but I saw a GetEm van today advertising the services of Scout, the termite-sniffing canine. Neat :)

Ugh. Back to work. I had such a nice break from Hooters...and now I'm back. Hopefully not for too long. I worked last night and today and I don't go back until Sunday...unless my baby decides to come out!! :) My boss called me "TinkerBelly" today. Hehe. Anyway, I don't have anything exciting to say so I'll get on with it. Once agan (and expect this every Monday) here is PromoGuy's Monday Mission 2.34: 1. What do you do to make things better when you feel sad and/or lonely? Sometimes I write poetry...sometimes I call Cindy...sometimes I sleep...and sometimes I lay on my back and poke my baby :) 2. Are you a "touchy-feely" person? That is, do you like to touch people you don't know that well? And on the flipside of that, do you like being touched by someone you aren't close with? Hands off the merchandise!! 3. Do you like to have "me" time, time to yourself to be alone and relax? Or do you prefer to just do your own thing with someone else in the room? That said, as many as 25 states have passed legislation regulating who they believe should be the "marrying type." What are your thoughts on the banning of same-sex marriages? Speaking of "roll"...or something...I rolled out to Ghent last night to make tacos and play cards with Liz, Jesse, ChickMagnet & girlfriend Michelle, and Connors (who identified me as "Deirdre (&Co.)" on his site) :). It was a good time. We played a couple drinking games...I know (WHAT!?). They chugged beer, I ate ice cubes and pretzel sticks. I just got home from my OB appt. I am still about 2cm dilated and 80% effaced...no change since last week. The doctor said that right now, she would "guess" that the baby weighs somewhere in the neighborhood of 6.5 lbs. I'm going to go lie down now. I haven't been feeling well. I revisited lunch and dinner last night...not so pretty.

I'm finally home. I got home last night around 10, and let me first say I don't like the new layout of Norfolk International Airport's arrivals terminal. The baggage claim is ridiculous.

My time in Ohio was well-spent. I got to go to Giselle and Dave's family picnic and got a chance to see a lot of the family I didn't see at my shower. I saw pics of Pep and Candace's son Joshua...what an adorable baby! I went to A Colder Year's concert at the Odeon. I also had my baby shower (I know I'm recapping some of what I already wrote, get over it). Meghan (Aunt Seester) made the baby a cute blanket and a pre-baby memory book. I almost cried when I looked at that. I'm such a sap. We played games, ate food, and DATENUT CAKE, MMMMMM!! Alecia's baby melted the fastest and Laura most accurately guessed the size of my belly so they got prizes :) Then I opened presents. Everything is so CUTE. I separated all the clothes by size last night and I got a pretty wide variety :) Looks like we're all set. It's a good thing I have off work until Sunday...I'll be up to my ears in thank-you cards this week. I woke up at noon today :) I haven't done that in a LONG time. And I probably won't do it again for another 18 years.

And thanks to Cox! Since we have the cable tv/cable modem/cox phone line package, we are now going to be getting digital cable for FREE. WOOHOO! Goodtimes are on their way. Can you tell I still have no life?

Many children have blankets, or a favorite nubby stuffed animal that they like to keep near them for security. Do you recall what you had for your "security blanket" as a child? When did you finally give it up? What brought that about? Actually, I have no idea. 2. Now that you are a big kid, what do you have to give you that same sense of security? Friends and family. 3. With a little over four months left in 2002, have you accomplished everything you wanted to for the year? Is there anything that you would like to accomplish before the year is over? As long as my baby is healthy and I get out of Hooters, I'll be able to say that 2002 and I got along great. 4. I don't know about you, but it seems to me children have it pretty good these days. Game systems, computers in the home, microwaves, cable TV, the internet, cell phones and pagers, they certainly have a wider variety of technology than most of us did as children. What modern convenience, if any, do you think it would be good for children today to do without? What would they gain? How about all that stuff? It's important for kids to be exposed to technology, but what kid do you know that NEEDS a cell phone, a pager, cable TV and microwavable meals? 5. Many of us have one thing in which we believe we excel. What do you do better than most? I think I'm the best at being myself. 6. In the United States, and possibly other countries, teenagers in High School usually wind up falling into several social circles or "cliques." Stoners, Rich Kids, Jocks, Cheerleaders, Band, Drama, Goths, and so on (though the names are probably different today). What High School "clique" did you find yourself in? Was it by choice or did it just happen? Did you look down on other groups? I didn't consider myself to be in a "clique" in high school and looking back, I was right. I did what I wanted, said what I wanted, and I had a good time. I looked down on people that thought it was "cool" to be like everyone else. 7. (it begins) I have great news! I won the contest and we now have plane tickets to anywhere in the world. The bad news is we have to pick a place now and leave in the morning. I can't decide where to go, so you get to pick. Where should we go, and what is the first thing we should do when we get there? We should go to Hawaii and buy baby clothes!! BONUS: Must I beg you? Better wear some knee pads!!


There is a difference between being "smart on paper" and "having smarts." When you're smart on paper, you get good grades and you'll probably end up with a pretty good job (if you have the "smarts" to land one). When you have smarts you know how to handle people. You tend to have more tact, more couthe if you will, than the average valedictorian-type. When you have smarts you probably know what things to say and what things not to say to your friends, people you are just meeting, and people you don't know. When you have smarts you probably don't say awful things about people you just met to people you don't know. And when you have smarts, you probably don't take credit for all the horrible things that someone who just met your friends says to people he/she doesn't know. Call me crazy, but I know a SMALL SMALL percentage of people that are smart on paper AND have smarts. Lately, I'd much rather have a conversation with someone the valedictorian-type frowns at than the type that is proud to be a valedictorian.

Yesterday was a good day. I went to the family picnic (thanks for being there BDB! <---sarcasm) and it was nice to see all (or at least everyone who was there) of the family. I almost passed out :) The heat got to me. Who ever thought that would happen in Cleveland of all places?? Last night I went to the A Colder Year concert with Cindy, her sister Stephanie, Shelley and her boyfriend Leo (Leonid from Russia), and Toni. It was oodles of fun. My feet swelled and ankles swelled up, but the bartender made at the Odeon made sure I always had a full cup of of ice. WHAT A NICE GUY!! I feel like I'm swollen right now, so I'm keeping this short and I'm going to go get some water. I've got the shower later today and I need ot be beautiful :)

Hey everyone!! I'm in Ohio! Airports are crazy, I understand the necessity of crazy machines and crazy searches, but crazy people? I think we can afford to do without. I was walking through the little scanny door and this airport security lady looked at me and said "Oh, how cute! Are you having twins??" The question caught me off guard because I've only gained 15 lbs so far and even though it's all belly, most people are surprised when I tell them I'm already 8 mos. into my pregnancy. Anyway, as if her first question wasn't insulting enough, she asked "Are you sure?" the first time I informed her I am not, in fact, having twins. Argh.

And USAir was not messing around with this bankruptcy stuff. The first leg of my trip, connecting in Charlotte, all the passengers were offered a glass of water. Yum. There wasn't even enough ice in the cup for me to enjoy myself.

Travelers are pretty rude, too. The babies on both of my flights were more well behaved than their co-passengers. Let me pose two rhetorical questions: 1. What kind of man (there were actually 2) BLANTANTLY CUTS in front of a woman, and a PREGNANT woman at that, in line? and 2. What kind of OTHER MOTHER bumps into a pregnant woman's belly without acknowledgement? For example, an "excuse me" or a "beg pardon."

Oh well. I'm here...I might as well enjoy myself!!

A great thing about being pregnant is that I can stay inside the house all day long and still have a story to tell or have something to blog about. Today, my baby had the hiccups. Actually twice including the bout she's having right now. It's so cute :) Just a rhythmic little pounding in the belly...I wonder if she makes little noises when she does it.

It started out innocently enough :) I really did NOT want to work today...I've been feeling "eh." So last night, in an effort to find some symptom of something that I could conceivably have...I realized that I had 5 of the 9 most common symptoms of pre-term labor. Lovely. So I called the doc this morning and was told to head on over to Labor & Delivery...and yes, I did get out of work today. And for the next week and a half. I was hooked up to monitors...I almost passed out...I'm dilated 2cm...and I still got the green light to head north for the weekend...so I'll see you soon Clevelanders :) Mama's comin home.

Alright...so I had a slower shift today. I had 2 tables, my sales were $30.78 and I made $8. Then I had to pay $4.50 for parking. Anyway, enough about Hooters, here's PromoGuy's Monday Mission 2.32:

Never have I worked such a slow shift in my life. I worked for 4 hours and I only had 3 tables. My sales were $114.58 and $52.23 of that was merchandise. Yikes. I made $10. That WAS roughly 20% of my food sales though. Not bad. But also not worth the drive.


I found this cartoon on Cordle's site. It really just reminds me of what idiots are leading our country and how we really can't trust any other country. We have two allies (correct me if I'm wrong) that are nuclear powers, France and Israel. Everyone else that has them has one reason or another to hate us. To me, it's pretty important that we get rid of Saddam, but even that psycho has allies. Ugh. And what about China? Once Taiwan has their vote, they'll vote for their independence from China...and the SMART U.S. has promised to back up the land of sweat-shops. And why not? We always seem to jump in and try to save the little guy. Who really cares? Right? Wrong. Because Bill Clinton, the dumb idiot that stole White House property to open a gallery in NY, gave China the technology they need to actually put up a decent fight. And if all this isn't bad enough, we've got a serial killer in Louisiana, little girls being kidnapped and killed in the Midwest almost monthly, and I've got 4 mosquito bites that could possibly have come from a West Nile virus carrying little bloodsucker. I need a vacation...and seemingly so does the rest of the world.


The bubbles are back, and so am I. My Aunt Bear was in town again, this time with Uncle John, Daniel, and Daniel's friend James. We had a nice visit while they were passing through Virginia Beach on their way to Ocracoke, NC. Aunt Bear and Uncle John took me to Target once again to get some stuff for the baby. Later, James, Daniel, and I went to the oceanfront to play putt-putt and grab a slice of pizza from Chicho's. It was a good time.

I haven't been at work for a few days (I had Friday and Saturday off), and I have to go back tonight. I'm not really looking forward to that. I've enjoyed just lounging around, and going back to an afternoon shift after a few days off is the worst. $$$ is good, but I really don't feel like stopping the middle of my day to leave for work. Ya know?

As far as my webspace is going (or not going), I've downloaded Arachnophilia, some Java program, and also Site Publisher. I don't know what to do with any of it though. If I don't figure it out today, I may be enlisting the help of J.Ho (Bunny Babbles).

It says I need an html editor (I suck at html, so I need an 'html do-it-for-me editor') and I need an FTP thingie. It also says that I can download both of these things from the internet for free. So here's what I need from y'all: RECOMMENDATIONS. Just toss 'em in the shoutbox.


Enterprise just took my mom away. She'll be back though :) With a new model Chevy Malibu rental car for MOI. At the expense of whom? We'll let Japanese AutoMasters and their infamous brakes supplier fight over that bill.

AHHHHHHHHH! I tried to stay away, but I just posted and I ALWAYS check to make sure everything goes through correctly and I ended up being my own 2000th customer! D'oh. Last time I was at my site it was up to only 1993. Argh.

Newsflash I found this article on bears-cave.com. A NY airport security guard forced this woman to drink breastmilk from 3 baby bottles she was travelling with to prove that they weren't dangerous.


Ugh. My brakes are grinding AGAIN. Tomorrow will be the FOURTH time I've taken my car back to get the front brake pads and rotors replaced. The first time it cost me just over $250. The second and third times were free of charge because the parts were faulty. And now they're doing it again. I just got my car back on Tuesday. This is starting to get slightly ridiculous. This time, we'll be getting a rental car and the brakes supplier of Japanese Automasters will be footing the bill, they just don't know it yet.

If that wasn't enough to gripe about, McDonald's has ALREADY discontinued their Flatbread Sandwiches. D'oh. At least I have Scooby Doo Ice Cream.

And no I did not have the day off, but I still did baby laundry. Well, I'm doing it right now. Dreft smells SO good.


Alright...I think I've made all the necessary changes, and we should be good to go. Good thing, too! I need to quit refreshing, I wouldn't want to be my own 2000th customer!

Have you ever gotten up in the morning and just felt like you didn't want to work at all that day? I really don't feel like hooting today. I'd much rather do baby laundry or read my book. I am sorta tired, too. Cindy called last night and I talked to her for awhile before bed. I got off the phone because I KNEW I was tired...but I couldn't sleep and when I eventually did fall asleep, it didn't last long. I was tossing and turning all night. Ugh...it's off to work anyway now. Hopefully they'll cut the floor and none of the slackers (AKA new girls) I work with will want to go home.

I had to go to the grocery store to buy a can of crushed tomatos and I picked up a baby magazine, too. My total was $6.66. I won't be leaving the house for the rest of the evening.


Wow. I was doing the rounds and I stumbled upon this discussion at PromoGuy's site. I don't know how interested everyone is with the whole Cordle v. Hooters matter, but this is pretty entertaining. Cordle "The Feminist" actually said that my site is "really well-written, smart, and funny." I do appreciate those comments, but they also tend to discredit the self-proclaimed feminist. On his website, he said, "I'm obsessed. I admit it. Hootress drives me crazy, but I can't stop reading the idiotic things she says to justify and/or brag about her so-called life." I can see (with really thick glasses) Cordle's side of the argument, and perhaps he thinks he is doing women a service by being a "feminist" and attacking the premise and existance of Hooters, but I have NEVER come to work and seen ANY women outside the double doors of Hooters holding picket signs.


My OB appointment went well this morning. I got copies of all the labwork I've had to take with me when I leave for Cleveland next weekend. I am 34 wks., my belly measures 35cm, and the baby's HR is about 140bpm rising as she is active. I have gained 15lbs through the pregnancy so far, a 2 lb. increase since my last appt. 2 wks. ago :) My doctor is very pleased.

1. Ever considered just deleting your Blog and not doing it anymore? What prompted that and what stopped you? I would NEVER :) I love updating. When I first started it though, I changed my template a lot. I'm happy with it now, though. I have so much family and so many friends in Ohio that keep up with me by reading my blog, I would never get rid of it. 2. How about a quick review of the last movie you saw? Made Starring Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau, Written and Directed by Jon Favreau and Producted by Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau...sounds like the opening credits of a home movie :) For anyone who saw Jon acting the role of the "loser" in Swingers...this is a funny switch with Vince playing the tagalong mooch. Good movie!! And even a cameo by Screech!! 3. What's your favorite gadget? Are you lusting for any new ones? Will you ever be satisified??? I'm a nerd, but all my favorite gadgets are new toys and crazy things for babies...I want to get her a vibrating bouncer. 4. Saturday night I played "UNO" for the first time in years, I mean it has been over 10 years since I played it. It was great fun, but it really made me want to learn how to play Backgammon again. What "table game" do you enjoy playing most with other people? Have you played it lately? I love playing Monopoly with other people. Liz and I used to play it all the time with different friends...Jesse, Gamsey...all the fun ones :) Last time I played with my mom and instead of playing until one of us went bankrupt and had quit, we determined the winner by adding property values, improvements on properties and cash. I WON!! 5. About a year ago I was obsessed with losing weight, and I dropped pretty low before I got a handle on things (I've actually gained about 8 pounds of it back, and it is still a struggle sometimes to not try to lose it). Thankfully, I like fattening sweets and buttery popcorn too much to live like that for too long. Have you ever been obsessed with something so much that it was close to causing you physical or mental harm? If not, have you known anyone else who has? This one time, at band camp... Just jokes. 6. Did you grow up in a family or community that displayed racist or prejudice attitudes? Did it influence you in any way, either toward or away from those views? How did you manage to avoid it, or did you? I grew up in Bay Village, Ohio. It was and probably still is a pretty much all white community. The Arab family that lived there got deported, and the black family that lived there when I did moved...but I don't feel like my lack of exposure really influenced any of my beliefs or attitudes. I look at each situation as it is, a specific moment in time dealing with a certain person. I admit I may buy into certain stereotypes and generalizations...but I think that has a lot to do with human nature. 7. Good grief, I am starving! You got anything to eat around here? Some ice chips...and some leftover cake from my baby shower :) TASTY BONUS: What did you tell them? It was a bright light!! I told them everything they wanted to know!

Whattaday, whattaday (Erykah Badu, huh?). I had my first baby shower (of two) this afternoon. My mom was there, Shawn's mom and his grandmother, and of course a bunch of girls from work. Amy and Quinn planned it and it was at Quinn's apt. It was VERY nice and VERY fun. We played a few games where we had to identify the melted candy bars in newborn Pampers and we had to taste and identify different kinds of baby food. Baby food is disgusting and I think every parent should taste it before they feed it to their children. I have a ricer and a mini food processor a few "just for baby" food recipes. Anyway, I got a TON of stuff, and I am going to go organize everything in the nursery. I'll start the "Thank You" notes tomorrow.


Well Cordle...it wasn't my table. The tables I DID have at the time commended me for standing up for myself and the girl who WAS waiting on the table was actually the one that suggested that I ask for their film. It's true, we are asked and often expected to pose in pictures with customers. However, at the location I work at, we don't charge the normal $5 per photo that other locations charge, so we do have the right to refuse. Yesterday was actually the first time I have exercised that right. I didn't sign a modeling contract with Hooters...I am just a waitress, after all.

Got breastmilk?


I can understand the novelty, so to speak, of a pregnant Hooter girl. But some people are just a little TOO fascinated by it. There was a table in today and after I posed in one picture with them, they started flashing pictures of me while I was cleaning tables, while I was walking around...and I started to get annoyed. So when one of the guys came up to me and ASKED if I would pose in another picture with him, I said no and suggested they stop flashing pictures or they would be asked to leave. At some point while I was talking to him, one of his cohorts snapped a photo anyway. I asked (more like demanded) the amateur photographer to give up his film and he whined, "But there's boat pictures on here [waaaah]." And I replied, "That's just too bad, you'll have to go back on the boat and take some more." He handed over the film, they paid their check, and the 3 of them left in a hurry because they "[didn't] want to offend anyone else."

Baby clothes are really hard to fold!! There are so many ruffles and flaps and they're so teeny!! But they're so cute :) A month and a half now folks :) Another pregnancy note...I've been craving ice!! My first REAL craving...and it only took me 7.5 months.

Well Cordle is so intelligent he has applied for employment at the department of the obvious. I'm 21, and I'm pregnant. WOOHOO!! Had I thought that would end my young adulthood or prohibited me from having a life all together or had those things been more valuable to me than the human life I created and am now responsible for, I may have chosen an alternate route. But I love me, I love my baby, and I'm not at all bothered by his cartoons and "slams" as he likes to think they are. So, Cordle, I would say "Bring it on," but I really think you're going to be the last one standing in this one...well okay...you and the llama. I guess I'll leave this "fight" with a quote and a graceful (as graceful as one can be at 7.5 mos. pregnant) bow:

"Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn."


Bay Village Update: Looks like we're going to have some famous classmates...well almost classmates, they graduated in '98. Dan Rich has apparently been signed by the Cleveland Indians and Jared Treadway has been signed by the New York Yankees. Good job guys :) Also Dave Zastudil is a big FAT traitor and has joined the Baltimore Ravens as a punter. Jerk. :) He was hot though. All this gossip came courtesy of Emily Rossi.
