Good, clean fun.

I went out with Dianna last night. We started at Waterman's...there were two cars in the parking lot, so we took the trolley to Shucker's. No one was out there, so we walked 8 blocks to Sandbar, Chicho's, and The Edge.

We had good times. And FYI, Christina Aguilera's "Dirrty" is the most fun song to dance to.

At the end of the night, I found myself in a clothespin competition for a Jager watch...some guy beat me, but gave me his Jager keychain and the bartender gave me a shirt. Good stuff.

And your "boys" aren't really your "boys."

A good friend is a friend that wouldn't try to hook up with a guy you JUST stopped talking to. I don't think guys have those kinds of friends.

On SORT OF the same subject...I found a new blog to love. The blog has been added to the blogroll to the left and the link within this post is an interesting link on the "guy befriends girl" theory. Good stuff.

Uninsured? No WAY.

My insurance company called and disturbed my slumber this morning. They're finally going to handle the accident as an uninsured motorist claim. They said I should make sure I'm not permanently injured before I settle which is nice considering more bills for them means more $$$ for me when they're prepared to offer me a settlement. When I drove down to Wilmington that one weekend that seems like so long ago already, my back hurt a lot for the next day and a half...at which point, I had to drive back home. Nice. Anyway...I'm debating the doctor's appointment.

Hootressing.

I had a pretty good weekend at work...considering. Considering my manager somehow got me to work PayPerView WWE Wrestling Night on Sunday night. How awful is that? Not only do I hate wrestling...I hate it when tables come in at 7p.m. to "get a good seat" for the show that begins at 8p.m. and don't move their collective asses until 11:30p. Out of a 5 table section, I had 3 tables that camped out for 4.5 hours and ordered so much in that period of time that they had nothing left to tip with. That's just an assumption. I could be blunt and just say WWE fans are typically poor tippers just like how smokers are usually much better tippers than non-smokers. Oh...I just did. It's true though. It's a good thing I had those other two tables turning over...I had some cool people come in to occupy my time and I made a little money in the process.

Last night was a joy, too. Sarcasm. It was a night shift...so that was good. More money on the night shifts, too. BUT it was also a Monday. I made decent money,but compared to my sales of $660...not really. I made exactly 15%. I usually make closer to 20%...but it could have been worse. So, whatever. I had a few cool customers that made the night worthwhile anyway. ;-)

I hate love to dwell.

I just hate dwelling on this. I promise, though, this will be my last post on this subject.

Let me throw a hypothetical situation at you.

Let's say you meet this incredible guy (or really just a guy you THINK is incredible) and you lose touch...and you get back in touch a year+ later and think you're the luckiest person on Earth. What are the chances that you're both single and you both think the other is great...still? So you talk talk talk for awhile...meet up...talk talk talk...meet up...talk talk and then out of no where...there's no talking. Then there's a cancelled trip (not even a week after the previous one) that can only be presumed cancelled because of the not talking.

There's the situation. Not being the person who stopped the talking...how do you actually close the subject without getting any answers? How do you close the subject when the only answers you get are third-hand and totally baseless?

Obviously, I'm talking about myself in this. The answer I got..."He's afraid you're going to get back together with Mia's dad." Right. Mia's dad actually called today and I gave him the short version of the story (thanks, readers, for putting up with the bits and pieces of the long one) and I told him about that getting back together thing. He laughed almost as hard as I did when I first heard it. Shawn and I get along very well these days and that can all be credited to my forgiving nature. Forgive, but never forget. We won't get into the dirty details of what I'm not forgetting...but you can ALL rest assured there is no reconciliation in our future.

I posted a few days ago about not wanting to post about certain things because of certain people that read my site. That post had nothing to do with this situation...but given the encouragement I got from [d]...I thought I'd let this roll out. This is really the only "journal" I keep and I don't really mind sharing this with the masses. I'm not really asking for feedback or anything...just venting. The one person I'd like to be venting to is the non-talker. So. Sorry 'bout your luck y'all.

I guess I did make a mistake or two in the whole thing, though...one of those mistakes was holding this guy to a higher standard than other guys I've been involved with. I suppose the smart thing to do would be to only expect from one guy what you got from the previous...that way, if you're impressed, you might find yourself on the right track.

I could blubber on about this for hours, so I'll stop myself right here.

I do want to say though that all of the sudden...my friends' relationships make me want to hurl :) Have a nice night.

Speaking of no balls.

I cancelled my reservation at the Ramada Inn near Myrtle Beach tonight. The woman that answered the phone immediately asked me to call 1-800-The-Ramada. That's a lot of numbers, hun. It's 1-800-2-Ramada. Anyway...I called the 800 number and the guy says he can't pull up the reservation and asks how I made it in the first place; I called the hotel directly. So then I have to call the hotel directly to cancel...funny, I thought I did that. So I call BACK and this time the woman decides to ask me how I made the reservation. Nice. Anyway...SHE couldn't pull it up because the idiot that entered my information in the computer spelled my name "Deirbr" and replaced the N in my last name with a U. Goodtimes. The reservation has been cancelled though...so, if anyone wants to come visit me (Cindy) August 14-18...I'm free.

It's funny how you laugh about something you've known in your heart for awhile but then once it comes out of someone's mouth...it's not funny anymore.

I called almost everyone in my cell phone today to share Mia's big news. Chris - PA. The Godfather. Chris is seriously one of the sweetest guys on the planet and I love him to death...but sometimes...I wonder about that boy.

Chris: So what else is she doing? Does she talk?
Me: She says MomMom. It's so cute.
Chris: That's cool...does she say Deirdre yet?

This, from the same guy that thought babies came out knowing how to walk. His logic? "Well animals can walk not even an hour after they're born and people are smarter than animals."

My mistake.

I don't know why, but I was under the impression that balls are a standard issue type thing. Most guys should have them. Just so other girls don't believe that anatomical myth and end up as baffled as I am...I'll do a public service and post some reasons why a man might be lacking in the balls area, if you will:

1. Four for two deals at the vet.
2. Major, and very unfortunate, birth defect.
3. Previous relationship with Lorena Bobbitt.
4. Being sentenced to castration in a foreign court.

And of course there's the balls, no balls clause where a guy has them...and for some crazy reason, just doesn't use them or acknowledge their existence.

That's my baby!!

Mia took her first steps today!! All within the first 2 hours Meghan was on Virginia soil!!

THANK YOU LAURA!! Mia is making such great progress with her "not in my bed" thing. Last night she cried for the first whole 5 minutes...then I went in...said some loving Mommy stuff and left her alone with her tears and she cried 7 more minutes and then fell asleep. Tonight she cried for the first 7 minutes and fell asleep. She woke up around 12:30 and I went in...rubbed her back, told her I love her, and she fell right back asleep. What a good girl!!

Back in the day.

I can't remember a weekend of my senior year of high school that I wasn't at a concert. Mushroomhead, the now defunct ACY (formerly known as cansiter), snatch, hate theory, biastfear, biaxadent...to name slightly more than a few. Anyway...the Virginia Beach area has proven to have only, if even, 25% of the talent that Cleveland's local scene had. I used to go see a band called Slayground...I talked to Kevin, the vocalist, every once in awhile...but I don't know what happened to them. Unfortunately, I've had to resort to seeing big name bands a few times a year just to get a fix...although at 75% of THOSE shows, I've been backstage. Hootress perk :) Anyway. Once I lock in Mom to babysit...I want to make plans to go to this show. Anyone who's on board...just drop a comment or give me a call.

Have you ever felt like maybe one too many people had your web address? I almost need a new URL to post about half the things I feel like posting about. I'm not even talking about anyone in particular. At any given moment...I can bitch about at least 4 or 5 people that frequent my site. This might be one of those times where I shouldn't really post this...but this is one of those times where 4 or 5 people need to think I might possibly be talking about them.

Home again.

I'm back from my weekend visiting Chris in Wilmington, NC. Goodtimes, goodtimes.

I came home to a baby with a 3rd tooth and an older demeanor. Only two days, and she changed so much. I don't really have much else to post about...except for the fact that I also had to come home to a missing commenting system. BUT...it could always be worse. So, whatever.

Riiiight.

So the Trooper "on the case" called me this morning in reference to the June 26th hit-and-run I was involved in. He said he's been to the residence of the "runner" a few times and that no one's been home and the car hasn't been there.

"The car may have been sold already. Who really knows?"

Wow. Good detective work.

I'm sure I could find out more about this driver with her plate number as a civilian than this guy can do on the state's payroll. That actually sounds like a very good idea...there was a time I wanted to be a PI. I might be able to do it legally AND without the certificate :)

I Stand Alone.

Actually, I've been able to stand by myself for quite some time...but MIA. The Pretty Little has been able to do it for about a week or so. She just stands and either falls on her bum or leans/falls into me. It's very cute. She might be saving her first steps for Auntie Meghan's upcoming visit. That would be nice!!

Erica?

I've heard Deidre, Deirdre with a long second 'e', I've even heard Desiree...but Erica?

I called SunCom last night (and for the second time this week) to report reception problems I've been having at home (within my calling area) after 10pm. The tech said someone would get back to me before the end of 48hrs. I picked up a VM a few minutes ago and the tech said something like, "Hi Erica, this is blah blah blah with SunCom blah blah support, we've been having problems with blah blah blah towers after blah o'clock, the problem should be fixed now. Please call blah blah blah if you have any more problems. Thank you for choosing SunCom, have a blah day."

Yeah. I wouldn't have CHOSEN SunCom if ANY OTHER wireless company offered something comparable to the UnPlan. I pay $49.99 a month for unlimited anytime minutes, and unlimited long distance. I also get 300 minutes of free roaming. On average I use 3,250 minutes a month. Any other company I've looked at charges something ridiculous like $129.99/month for a 3,000 minute plan. I just can't believe that the UnPlan has been available for so long and no other carriers have jumped on the wagon.

You know the feeling...It's the one you get the day before or the day of a brand new cold. It's the one that feels like a cold shirt over goosebumps. It's the one that makes the temperature of your skin feel significantly cooler than the hot blood coursing through your veins. It's the one that makes you so achy...Even your hair follicles aren't safe from the pain.

Baby Got Back...Pain.

My back still hurts from the accident so I called and made an appt. with an ortho. I also called the Trooper to see what's going on with the hit and run because my insurance company needs to know how to file the claim. I can tell them right now that an 84 Olds full of black people that were only courteous enough to WAVE as they fled the scene can be put under the "uninsured motorist" column right now.

I am not a happy camper.

And speaking of my car accident...my little blue baby wouldn't jump this morning and now has to be towed to Kimnach Ford for an appt. with an adjuster. Nice. It's funny though, after I couldn't resuscitate Rhonda Loquetia, as I so affectionately refer to my Honda (also dubbed the "Blue Streak" by my Grandmother), I called up my SunCom Roadside and had them send a truck out to be just as unsuccessful as I had been. Anyway...the tow truck guy was the same guy that towed my car from Golden Corral. Pretty neat, huh?

The opposite of Hooterific.

Today was THE bad day at work. Forget flat tires, forget annoying bartenders...today was the worst. Even with the news that my LEAST favorite girl put in her two weeks notice today, it was still the worst day possible. If I didn't have Mia, I would have left all my money in the office and said, "Peace out."

And in spite of all that...Elizabeth told me tonight that I sound more like the "old" Deirdre. She said I sounded happy or zesty or something. Zesty ranch? I don't know. Whatever.

Seeking a second opinion...and maybe a third.

Mia had her 9 month check-up this morning. She is 23 lbs. even, is 29.5 inches long and has one hell of a large head. Her height and weight are still standing right at 97th percentile and her head...well, that's off the charts.

While I was there, I asked Dr. Jones about how to get Mia to sleep through the night in her crib...not my bed. He said to just let her cry. No bottle, no move to my room. The problem is she's one of those babies that throws up if she cries too hard. Sooooo. He said to just clean it up and then put her back to bed.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?
