Some rants.

-John Kerry is an idiot. I can't vote for him and feel good about it. I can't vote for Bush in good conscience either. But I can't NOT vote. So. That leaves Ralph Nader...is Dennis Kucinich still on the ballot? Maybe I could write in Hillary. I would do it, too.

-It's funny to me how many people don't practice what they preach.

-I hate it when kids ring my doorbell and ride away. I hate it even more when I don't get a good enough description for the police. I hate it that I don't live in Bay where the police actually send out a s.w.a.t. team for that kind of thing.

-For the next two weeks, Rus is on a 3-day duty section rotation. I haven't seen him in what seems like forever.

-All the tops to Mia's sippy cups have been disappearing at a ridiculous rate.

-Tomorrow night my Hootress name tag will read "BeerWench." Not really, but I hate bartending. I hate closing on Saturdays. I'm too old to be up past 12am.

-My career advisor at school hates me. For no reason. Unless me having a 4.0 AND being hot is reason enough for her. I don't mind when people don't like me, but I would like to at least have the chance to give them a reason to first.

Don't hate me.

After only a couple months, and some very tough decisions, I've decided to dump AOL. I know, I know...I talked about it and glorified it made it my new best friend, but we've come to the end of our road. When Al at bluehole.org suggested we download Mozilla Firefox instead of IE, I welcomed the change. And now, naturally, I've adopted Mozilla Thunderbird as my mail sorter/storage space. It's love. What can I say? So. I've got a new e-mail address and a new AIM ID...so I'm sorry you'll have to update your info again. But I'm a Gemini...I'm fickle by nature. :) Lo siento!!

P.S. New AIM is deir757 I'll be sending out a mass email with my new email address...it's very simple.

Back to Virginia, back to posting.

We had a lovely visit in Ohio. We arrived late Friday night (thanks USN for that). Mia had ice cream and cookies from Grandpa at 4 a.m. and slept surprisingly despite the spike in her blood sugar.

We had breakfast with my good (and pregnant) friend Toni and her boyfriend Ben. That was fun. She does "pregnant" well. Then we all (minus Ben) went to visit with Trina and that was fun, I hadn't seen her in 6 years. Her son Caden is just adorable. He looks very much like her (minus the blond hair and blue eyes).

Then we visited with Toni's dad and his wife...it's always nice to see him.

From there, we went to Shooter's with Cindy and Brent for lunch. I had the caesar burger...I recommend that very much. Get the salad with the zinfandel dressing instead of the fries, too. Anyway, seeing Cindy was a great time, as usual, and Brent and Rus talked up a storm that could give Ivan a run for his money.

We had a late dinner with dad (9 p.m. late). Then we headed to Columbus about 18 hours ahead of schedule to lift her spirits. We've learned that Brian will be leaving Nov. 3 for Indiana and from there...Iraq.

Since he'll be absent for the birth of my wonderful nephew Elek, I will be present for 2 weeks!!....P.S. Since I'll be there from the 6th to the 20/21st...I won't be returning/staying for Christmas. Mark me down for next year, perhaps.

So yeah...I was somewhere on Sunday, wee hours of the morning it looks like. Anyway...in the later hours of the morning we had lunch at Clementine's with some family girls. That was a lot of fun. Mia helped Meghan open some baby gifts and then she opened her own. Her tea sets (Colleen and Kathleen) and her coloring gifts from Alecia were a big hit. Meghan, Mia & I colored the sliding doors at Meghan & Brian's. That was a lot of fun!! And of course, the Delaney family has impeccable taste in childrens' clothing and Mia will be well-styled in the fall.

We spent the rest of the week hanging out with Meghan & Elek-in-the-belly, Brian, and Dad. We went to the Columbus zoo, I went to an OB appt., and we all cooked some excellent meals.

We had a great time and I'm so excited that the next time I'm in Ohio, Elek will be out of the belly.

Birthdays and such.

Happy 2nd Birthday Mia!! And Happy Birthday Laura :)

We had our Nemo themed birthday party today. The guests were primarily family, my mom, my grandparents, Shawn, his mom and grandma and uncle and his mom's boyfriend. Erin and Elizabeth came and of course, Rus was there.

Mia wore the yellow dress Aunt Alyce got her. It was totally adorable, and I'll be posting a picture soon.

Anyway. Mia got some wonderful gifts. Rus and I got her the Little Tikes Tenderheart Talking Vanity, Lucky Ducks, and Home on the Range (DVD). Shawn got her the Little People Talking House and Discovery Village and the Little People adjustable roller skates. She got a booster chair from my mom that she's been strapped into for a pretty long stint here and there. She won't get down. She got a bunch of fun things, but the favorites have been the vanity, The Wiggles DVD from Erin, and all her new Little People to play with. We've got the Little People things set up in the living room like a little village with her My First Princess dancing ballerina studio in the middle. She can't get enough. I can, but she can't and that's a good thing.

Terrific Twos!!

They're right around the corner!!

I started the birthday shopping today. We'll be having a Finding Nemo themed family gathering, so I got the necessary Nemo plates, napkins, tablecloth, etc. I also picked up the Little Tikes Tender Heart Talking Vanity and Lucky Ducks. She enjoyed playing it (or not playing it?) in Duck with all her little cousins, I thought it would be nice to have it here to play with her myself.

I'm also getting very excited for our trip to Ohio, however brief it may be. WOOHOO!! Rus will be meeting my dad and my sister and my brother-in-law. I'm very excited. So is he! He had a great time in Duck and was "so happy to meet the people [I] love." What a sweetie.

No. Mia isn't going to school yet. I'm considering (very seriously) going back to school in January to pursue another A.A.S....this one in Physical Therapy Assisting. MCI is starting up the program in January and as a 4.0 student (did I mention I actually ended up with an A in speech??) already enrolled at MCI, I should have priority placement in the program. They're only accepting 25 applicants, so let's keep our fingers crossed on that one.

The program is slated to be 18 months, but I should be able to test out of a lot of classes and end up with 9 more months of school and 3 months of externship. Two A.A.S degrees in 2.5 years...not too shabby!!
